🎨 Art Week 2025: Celebrating Creativity and Culture

Art Week 2025 brought colour, creativity and culture into every corner of Martin Wilson School. Each year group explored the life and work of a different artist or movement, from Mondrian and Warhol to African textiles and contemporary illustrators. Our classrooms became studios, and our pupils — artists.

Children experimented with a wide range of materials, including clay, fabric, charcoal, collage and digital media. Visiting artists from the Shrewsbury Arts Collective led engaging workshops that encouraged pupils to express ideas visually and explore new techniques. We especially enjoyed the clay relief project, where pupils created tiles representing themes of identity and belonging.

The week culminated in a whole-school exhibition held in the school hall and corridors. Families were invited to view the artwork, chat with pupils about their inspirations, and contribute to a community mural. Year 6 pupils even acted as gallery guides, showing off their own work and that of their younger peers with pride and confidence.

Art Week is always a highlight of our school year — not only because of the impressive outcomes, but because it celebrates imagination, individuality, and the many ways children can express themselves.
